introduction

    • What Is "Chilling Ice Cream"?
Maeda-Reika, Chilling Ice Cream's maker, was founded in 1960.
At that time, it was common in Nagasaki City to sell tofu, vegetables, and picture story shows for children by peddling while ringing a bell.
"Maeda Reika" started by peddling in the same way.
We have kept the precious recipes and production methods of those days in order to remain the nostalgic taste of the time when our grandparents started the business.

    • Origin of the Name "Chilling Ice Cream"

The name was taken from the sound of bell ringing ("chirin!") when the ice cream peddlers in their triangular hoods and kappo-gowns pushed their stalls through the streets.
Although the nostalgic sound of the bells echoing through the town has faded, the bells still line the stalls as a remnant of the tradition.

    • Special Features Chilling Ice Cream is a type of low-calorie* frozen treat.
The term "frozen treat" may conjure up images of hard ice cream such as candy bars, but Chilling Ice Cream is designed to be smooth on the tongue while retaining a crispy, refreshing sensation.
That is why it can be served like rose petals using a special spatula.

*About 80 kcal (estimated value) per serving, including the cone.
However, because it is served by hand with a spatula, the value may vary slightly.

    • Stalls The blue stall is the trademark of Chilling Ice Cream.
Its structure and appearance have remained virtually unchanged since the company's founding in 1960.
The stall is environmentally friendly and requires no power supply.
It uses a primitive method of keeping the ice case cool with ice and salt, and continues to maintain its old-fashioned sales style.

Enjoy delicious travel memories with Chilling Ice Cream.

"Chilling Ice Cream" is well-known at major sightseeing spots and events in Nagasaki City.
It is not only loved by the locals, but is also well known as a local delicacy that adds a delicious touch of color to travel memories.
Its trademark is the original blue stall.
The appearance of the stall has hardly changed since its establishment.
It used to be all blue, but now it is accented with a white line reminiscent of "Chilling Ice Cream".
In Dejima Omotemon-bashi Park, the ice cream is sold in a rare dark brown stall that blends in with the surrounding landscape.
There is also a handmade mini stall in the direct sales area where visitors can take pictures with the ice cream.
